ParticipantHi folks,
I have a persistent mid tone whine/drone on the drying cycle of my Zanussi ZWD1252W.
I’ve done a bit of digging and am speculating it’s the cooling fan being distorted or under lubricated.
I took the top panel off and it’s difficult to determine exactly it’s origin.
A new complete fan unit is £100. Any ideas?

Update;
I’ve just disassembled the fan motor and housing which attaches to the dryer heat shield. It is pretty dirty and I’m trying to separate the two parts of the fan housing to clean inside, inspect fan and lubricate it.
It looks like one can prize it apart but it’s being stubborn. Any bright ideas?!
😛

not an unusual fault but I get part number
1323243350and its nearer £150 for it ( complete with motor hence cost but still a bit steep)
plus machine is 12 years old but one of the best machines ever built. just go on and on

Thanks for the reply Dave.Is this the correct part you’re referring to?

And do you think the diagnosis is correct? (I see what part you mean now, the whole fan and motor assembly)
Thank you greatly.

your link does not work but part number should be correct
when these units go the bearings make a lot of noise so yes its likely its the fault. if it was anything else it would make the noise during the wash cycle. if you want to be certain take the small belt off the unit and do not use the tumble dryer section. if all is quiet then its faulty

Ok. Thanks. Dave.
Not sure why my link was truncated, it only was on upload. The link was to the fan motor, not the whole assembly you referenced.
I sourced a whole unit for £84 but will try and refurb this one first.
Thanks again.
