I have got the above american style f/f 858644515020. The problem is that the air diffuser and channel get blocked up with ice causing the motor to stay in the closed position. once cleared it will work ok but not well until it builds up with ice again. on inspection i have found that the diffuser is always opening and closing it never stays in one position, i think that this is where the problem is or should it do this, if not are we looking at a new board or a sensor but looking at the board it is £129. any help about this difusser would be a great help

the baffle has a microswitch inside which sends a signal back to the board.
if this signal is not recieved then the diffuser will continously run. Normally it is the baffle but I guess it could be the pcb. Early versions suffered from ice up of the baffle and a mod kit was issued to prevent the problem, for smeg models at least. If the housing in the fridge stretches half way across the back of the fridge then it is the later version, if the housing is only in the corner then it is the earlier type.
