ParticipantHi Guys,
went to whirlpool american style top loader and found the cam/bearing on the agitator in pieces. How do you remove the agitator to gain access to the cam/bearing? No screws or nots visible. I assume the top of the agitator screws of somehow but because it’s plastic did not want to force it, and it looks quite aukward. 😳 ❓Alan

there is a cap inside the agitator (plastic about 2 inches across) got hold of it with pliers an pull gently
underneath there is a bolt approx 10mm i think remove and the whole thing comes offsimple these machines are great to work on when u get used to them
regards

theres a plastic piece with wings in the centre that will pull out then you will see the bolt head, you will probably work it out from there, when you have lifted the agitator out just take note on how the the clip and plastic bit comes out.[/code]

The screw under the cap is 5/16″ best to use the right socket in case it is stiff.

I have lifted out detergent cap, and then clear plastic cover with wings which has a rubber o ring around it but no sign of a bolt head.

It must be there. Is it covered in soap powder?

The hex head screw is in the recess in the centre of the cam.
It may be hidden by debris unless someone has removed it in which case the agitator will pull straight off the centre post.Steve
