OK this is a complicated one.
Customer brings me a gas dryer that wont switch on. He says he has already had a whirlpool engineer look at it and they supposedly fixed it, but obviously they didn’t!!
The replaced the power switch with a new one but the switch they fitted was a rotary type and not a push button type. The switch housing looks identical but the internals are different.
Easy fix I thought and ordered the part listed by Whirlpool (C00344945) only to find that it is the same switch fitted by the original engineers.
I then do my research and go online and order the original part numbered switch which is W10112668. Again the same type of rotary switch arrives. I then ring whirlpool and explain the situation and they tell me that the original part number was C00338270 but that has been superseded by part number C00344945. I explain that the switch they are now supplying is not correct for that model. They then tell me that its now obsolete then and cant help me any further.
I do a search on eBay and find an identical dryer facia for sale. I contact the seller and they are great, they take photos, describe the part even check it works how it should. They give me the details of the dryer that they have dismantled and I contact Whirlpool only to get confronted with the same news!
Does anyone have an original switch for an 3RAWZ480 or 481 lying around before I confirm my order with the eBay seller? They are good enough to hold it for 24 hours for me. Its a push button switch and not a rotary switch as whirlpool would lead you to believe!! 😕
