ParticipantI have been to this machine several times, and it wont spin sometimes. The brake seems to stick on, even after the slight pause during spin. It only happens intermitantly but is driving me and my customer mad. I have dropped the gearbox to inspect the brake pads and lever, which looks O.K. Any suggestions please.

Hi. I would say change the brake. when on spin the brake is disengaged. Is the white plastic pointy thing on the brake loose? If it feels loose, it is broken. you have said about a pause in the spin cycle. There is no pause in the spin cycle, so if there is, you may have a timer problem. I have changed many a timer for not spinning. Good luck sir

Thanks robwash for your reply. The customer hasn’t rang for 3 days so maybe it’s OK.
Most of these machines I have seen start to pump after rinsing with no spin action, untill the pause when the brake seems to dissengage and away it spins.

It does what it says on the tin ie drains in neutral then the timer stops the motor which makes the gearbox go into spin gear.If the gearbox doesn’t change into spin with a positive clunk try lifting and closing the lid to try and force a gear change. If it takes a few attempts to do it the gearbox is on the way out.
BTW most if not all of these machines will do a momentary stop in between the drain and spin to facilitate the gear change needed if the neutral drain box is fitted. 😉Steve

Thanks for that EFS. That means the ‘non neutral drain’ gearbox should spin and pump straight away. If my customer rings again I’ll check which gearbox it is.
p.s BTW?

Update
Got called back for no spin. I changed the drive clutch and brake lever (white pointy bit of plastic) and all is well.
Thanks for all the replies
