Whirlpool 3rlsq8033 W/M Drive Block

Hello
I have a job on to fit the agitator drive block on this USA top load washer. It fits on the tube under the agi, but I am unsure as to how the old one will come off, and the new one will go on. I know that the special nut will have to be tapped off to remove the basket, but where do I go from there.

Has anyone done this job before that offer any advice as to the best way to fit the part.

Hi Graham,

It is one of them easy jobs after the 1st time.

Once you removed the big nut just lift the drum out and to remove the drive block all you do is stick a big driver into the open slot and twist and it usually comes off easily.

I have the service manual for the older version of this machine but the guts have not changed over the years, PM me your email address if you want it.

And fun is what I had

The best way to learn is the hard way. On my 1st visit to this machine I found a large gap under the agitator and the customer complaining of no spin. It seemed to me that the agi drive shaft was coming out of the gearbox and lifting the agi up. So I quoted for a new gearbox. After fitting a new one, the gap remained.

On further inspection I found that the drive block was broken which caused the inner basket to drop down, which created the gap and made the basket catch, which caused it not to spin.

So I replaced the drive block, refitted the old gearbox and all is well. Phew !
