    Hi,
Another of these to haunt me.
The whole drum is floating (crashing in use) about. Underneath there are 3 springs attached and one to the base. Between the tub and tripod? support there is a plate that the tub seems to be resting on but it is not secured to anything and can be moved independently. It’s all very loose but I can’t see whats gone wrong and how to cure it.
    Any help welcome.
    Thanks
    Rob
I’ve done a search but cannot find anything.

    Hi Robbra,

There is a few faults that can cause this so try checking these ones out.

The tub is secured to the base by the brackets that the 3 springs are fitted to, the spring brackets are held in place by a screw that goes through the tub onto the metal base. When moving the tub by hand there should be a fair bit of movement in all directions except up and down.

If it is the inner drum that is moving up and down take the agitator off and look at the big nut on the top of the gearbox shaft, this should be fixed to the block below and if loose can allow the drum to move up and down. Also take the nut off and the aluminium block that it is attached to and check that the block has a lip at the inside top, sometimes these wear causing the drum to collapse onto the tub.

Aa faulty/blocked pressure switch causing the machine to take too much water will cause this problem.

The last one that I can think of is a dodgy gearbox causing the machine to jerk when the motor starts.

    Thanks John.
it’s the whole drum moving. I can hit the drum on the cabinet just by hand so it’s as though there is nothing restraining it. the three springs are in place but the plate underneath is moveable by hand. Should this be secured to the tub and is this by the screw through the tub and do I get to it under the agitator?
Sorry but never had this before.

It may just be the 3 friction pads that it all sits on that need replacing. i had one last week that jumped all over the place on spin. Couldn’t find anything else wrong so changed these and bingo. I’d not come across this on w/pool before only maytag

    Re: Whirlpool 3RLSQ8033SWO Tub loose

Went back for a further look.
All three springs are attached to both the tub and the tripod support. One spring from the tub to the case.
There are 2 plastic pods with loose pins in under the tripod. Should these be fitted to anything?
If I am underneath and push up the motor at the front the drum will tip. so it looks like the whole drum needs to be secured but I can’t see how.
    Has anyone an exploded view?
    Thanks

The drum does feel loose anyway and lifts up off the base quite easily, it does look and feel strange though. Whirlpool will send you a diagram if you ring them (i’ve got one but god knows where it is sorry) 0208 649 5450

There is an earlier post <a href="http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=44543&highlight=loader+manual
” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”>HERE that has a link to a breakdown of the parts for this machine, it is an older model but the guts are the same.

The plastic pots are only there to catch the pins which should drop down into the pot on installation. The pins are part of the transit strap, there should be 3 pins, check just above the pot without the pin just in case the pin didn’t drop when it was installed as this would cause your problem.
I have also emailed you a training manual for the older version of the machine, the newer versions are the same but have different timer and cosmetics.

    Thanks John,
I have printed it off and will go back and get it stripped down. This pub only paid £220 from Makro so they’re saying they might scrap it. We’ll see. Thanks for all that help as I’m sure these are going to keep coming to me.

    Nigel,
This one feels really sloppy and not like others so I’ll strip it.

Will let you know what happens.
    Rob
