One spins intermitant ( Water has drained away ok) but when I was there it worked ok. The other does not spin at all. The round can above the gear box appears to be spining around ok but there is no drive to the tub. Would this be clutch faults on these?? Have only ever replaced a pump on one before and would appricate any information and advice on these Many thanks Geoff November 13, 2009 at 3:13 pm #303617 electrofixModerator Re: Whirlpool 3RLSQ8533 Top Loader not unusual for spin clutches to be contaminated with gearbox oil may need to change box as well easy fit remove paddle then gearbox is only held on by 3 bolts comes out with clutch attached Dave November 13, 2009 at 10:17 pm #303618 geoff1Participant Re: Whirlpool 3RLSQ8533 Top Loader Hi Thank you for that – will take motor off tomorrow and check gear box etc. Are these prone to any particular faults on the drive system other than leaking oil? geoff November 13, 2009 at 10:21 pm #303619 jacksterParticipant Re: Whirlpool 3RLSQ8533 Top Loader Most common fault is a broken motor coupling, easy and cheap fix to be honest. Took of motor/gear box and checked the motor coupling which looked ok and was driving throught to gear box. also no oil had leaked out of gearbox. The one machine has no drive on spin and the other will no start intermitant (motor always starts up. Does it sound like just the clutch still??
