Whirlpool ????

An elderly lady has just rung regarding her Whirlpool washing machine. A bit confused and the best I can get out of her regarding model number is Whirlpool 2A or 857022015130, bought in 1998. Not sure if that means anything to the Whirlpool experts out there. 😉

This machine is almost in Goatboy territory and is rather a long way to go for what I feel will be a BER. 😥

She said she heard a bang, thinks she saw smoke and now the machine does nothing but spin as soon as it is switched on. Sounds like motor has blown module to me, but I am not to familiar with Whirlpool machines. does this seem a likely diagnosis and if so what costs are involved?

It’s an AWM220/1. If the motor blows, it usually takes the timer/module unit with it.

Timer – 4819 310 39725 – £84 list
Motor – 4812 361 58376 – £102 list

😆 When I saw “trip up towards bandit country” I thought you may have meant Whirlpool’s spares dept. At least Turpin had the decency to wear a mask. 😉
