I had the same problem this week and it was the wash motor, replaced it and it’s fine.
I spoke to a mate of mine in whirlpool and although he’s not sure what the 4 beeps are supposed to be saying (I’ve seen another thread here where it talks about 3 short beeps and one long) he said that when when the motor goes (usually from the magnet coming apart) it throws up all kind of misleading faults/fault codes.
Also, if the m/c was bought from Jan 2010 on then it should have a two year warranty, mine was just out!
These motors seem to be failing a lot and the replacement is the same as the original so I’m not sure if this one will only last 2 years also…, I let the customer know this beforehand and he agreed to go ahead with the job anyway.

Check the spray arms for blockages! This happens with the Whirlpool dishwashers that have the late type motor pump on them. Any restriction in the hydraulic system will cause the sensor in the wash pump to react. Also check the door wiring for a break in the loom as this has been known. I do agent work for CDA who use Whirlpool dishwashers and I have come across this problem many times, however I have one call pending on one of their jobs which is a very similar problem and this particular dishwasher has had 3 wash pumps, 2 heaters, a PCB, all spray arms and attachments, a top spray arm coupling and lower sump cover with ‘o’ ring replaced by various CDA engineers in an attempt to sort it out without been successful. They have given the job to me now for some reason.. :-/
