My Whirlpool ADG 7460 has the common flow meter problem (six flashes). I cleaned the contacts on the sensor as perscribed in other threads – it seemed to work for a couple of weeks but now it has returned.

On closer inspection the reed relay glass case had fractured so I replaced it with another (but slightly bigger) reed relay from Maplins as they didn’t have the same size available. But I still have the problem. I’ll see if I can get the right size reed relay, but if that doesn’t work I may decide to replace the whole flow chamber.

So, does anyone know how do you replace the flow chamber?

I had similar problem with my IGNIS 348 – same maker, the over the counter reed switch from MAPLINS didn’t do the job but the reed switch I order on line did, it was Maplins part number CL37 – I found it best to order 2 as they are very fragile – NEVER hold the glass and bend the lead – as I found out the glass gives way first! Hope that helps – bbuster..

Well I’ve ordered some CL37s and CL36s from Maplins.

I’ll let you know how I get on

The packet from Maplins arrived yesterday. I replaced the reed with a CL37 and made sure the reed was sitting in the slot by carefully bending the leads without breakng the glass envelope.

Well – it worked. The dishwasher completed a cycle without the dreaded bleeping. I’m going to run it for a few more times before I put it back under the worktop as it’s difficult to install / remove it due to the location of a gas pipe.

    Thanks for the advice
