Whirlpool ADG 7540 dishwasher start light flashes 11 times

Hi,

This model is the ADG 7540/1 and is 11 years old.
When you select any program it empties whatever water is there and then stops and beeps constantly and the start light flashes 11 times and it reverts back to the rinse program.You can reset the start switch but it makes no difference, it will also do the same thing once you close the door even if the start switch is off and not pressed and the start light is off.
