ParticipantMy Whirlpool Dishwasher drains, and drains and drains, and then beeps with 4 flashes.
I thought maybe the sensor has packed up (does it have one?), but thats not all it does. Sometimes I get a chattering relay sound. I’m wondering if maybe the processor board has packed up, or got waterlogged, or has a dry joint.
Any ideas? How do you get to it?

I got the control board out. Looks ok. Can anyone tell me what the connector codes mean.

Does it actually drain? If it does, the problem is far more likely to be caused by the level sensor in the sump being held in the closed position by congealed fat under the grid. It’s a twist fit from underneath if it c an’t be cleaned in situ.
The odd cases of chattering relays I’ve come across have been caused by leaks under the tub, usually from the recirculation motor, which have soaked everything.

It is draining, however, I tried it again today, and discovered that water is leaking onto the floor. Not sure from where.

You miss my point – if it thinks it’s full, it’ll keep on draining, for four minutes, then you get the fault code. The leak from underneath may well be from the output hose on top of the circulation pump.

Hi
The fault will be the circulation motor that has failed, you will have the old style ASKO pump which is noisey when its failed, the other fault with this pump is that the rubber hose from the pump to the sump fails causing the base to fill with water. Thus causing the appliance to go into anti flood mode(continually pumping out) to stop the appliance filling and filling and making a swimming pool of your kitchen.
You will need to replace the main wash pump.

Pump here:
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Dishwash … Motor.htmlLower cover plate is retained by 2 screws. Remove and clean the water level sensor whilst your in there.
Power off, of course.

Look the same. I assume its not possible to change it from the front.

Removal and refitting is most easily performed by laying the machine on its left hand side when viewed from the front. Towels down first as water will come out of the machine as well as the flooded undertray. The undertray is retained with two screws allowing full access. Care is required with the hose retaining rings as they will need to be re-crimped when fitting the new pump.

Thanks Penguin. Looks straightforward enough. I guess I could use jubilee clips if I haven’t the right crimp tool.

I have got my pump, and it fits. The only problem is that the power connector is different. Using spade connectors will solve that, except that there are no markings on either wire, or pump connector as to which is positive and which is negative. 😕

Forget that… the connector broke apart when I disconnect it, and got stuck in the original pump. 😳 Fixed it now 😀
