Hi everyone. While working away my other half informed me that our WHIRLPOOL ADG 7550 dishwasher has been starting a cycle but then after a couple of minutes it starts beeping and stops. I told her to leave it until I got back, but of-course she didn’t and kept on trying to run it until it tripped the electrics! They always know best dont they! :rolls:

Now I’ve returned home and if I try to switch on the machine it trips out the electrics straight away. I dont have any maintenance experience with dishwashers so any advice would be most appreciated! 😉

First thing is to unplug :zap: then tip the machine back at 45o with towels down (water may come out of the base)

Reprt back with the service number (12 digits long beginning 85**********) and we can advise further. It would be helpful if you knew the number of flashes above the start button prior to tripping but if your wife kept trying to operate it then she prolly didn’t notice?

Thanks for the very fast reply! 😀

    The service number is: 8542 755 15869.

I’ve tried interrogating the Mrs about the number of flashes etc but all she seems to remember is:

    1) the cycle stopped after about 5 to 10 mins
    2) on opening the door she could see the water/spray symbol illuminated

Not a lot to go on I know.

I have to go out in a bit so I will try tipping the machine at 45o tomorrow and post the results.

Thanks again and any more suggestions and advice are most welcome!

OK Ive finally managed to get the thing out and Ive tipped it to 45o and some of the water that’s been sitting in the bottom has drained, but not all of it.

I can now switch it on without tripping the electrics and get it to start a cycle. It started of as normal but after 10 mins it stopped its cycle and began to beep. On inspecting the lights I could see it was flashing 4 times. When I opened the door there was still quite a bit of water in the bottom.

Any suggestions where I go from here clivejameson or anyone? I hope so because her in doors is moaning about the mess I’ve got in her kitchen! 😯

Yes, if water came out of the base then put simply, it’s got a leak 😆

The machine will detect the leak and abort the program.

The only way to find it is to get the base pan off, have towels around and run the machine to see where the leak is. Unplug before taking things apart and no delving while running the machine. As soon as you see water then unplug again and gently tip back at 45o to find the leak…a good look with a torch will usually find it.

Let us know where the leak is and we can advise further, or if you feel out of your depth then click the link below to find a local engineer.

    Its me again! 😆

I took off the base pan and had the dishwasher standing in the middle of the kitchen completely naked! 😳

I started her up but no leaks! It just made a quite and low rumbling noise for a few mins and then started beeping and flashing 4 times again. I have also tried tipping it again but no leaks here either.
    😕

Can you think of any thing else I could try as I’m totally out of ideas?

OK, 4 flashes is “No drain detected in the time allowed”.

The water level sensor is the black grid in the sump under the filter. Seeing as you’ve got its clothes off, power off, tip it back and remove the sensor from underneath. The thing is usually full of congealed fat, jamming it in the full position. Use plenty of hot water and an old tooth brush to remove the goo and it should start working again.

    Great stuff Penguin45!

I am working away from home again at the moment but I will give it a blast when I get back in a few days and let you know how I get on. 😉

Re: WHIRLPOOL ADG 7550 – HELP PLEASE!

    Hi, I’m back! 😳

I’ve took the sensor out as suggested and it seems to be clean as a whistle, it clicks back and forth quite nicely but I took it to bits anyway and gave it a good clean.

I also opened up what I presume is the housing for the waste pump impeller and discovered a large loose bit of plastic, which I think may have been jamming the pump. Great I thought, it must work now!

To be on the safe side I thought I’d best put it on a test cycle before before I put it all back together and back in its place. It all seemed to be going well and cycled for about 20 to 25 mins… THEN… BEEP..BEEP…BEEP! 👿 (it did kinda get the dishes clean 😯 )

Its flashing 4 times again!!! Can anyone offer suggestions PLEASE???

Maybe it’s time for an engineer to come and have a look for you…if the machine has drained but it’s not registering the fact, then you may have wiring/pcb problems.

Of course it’s entirely possible that the piece of plastic you pulled out wasn’t the only bit in there, and there may be more somewhere in the drain line? :con:
