Whirlpool ADG 7550 intermittent problem

I have a 5-year old integrated dishwasher, Whirlpool ADG 7550, which has an intermittent problem with the control panel going dead (no lights, can’t switch it on, can’t select program etc.). Read on the net that it could be the thermal fuse on the control panel, although seems unlikely in this case that it’s the fuse as the lights will come on sometimes.

Took the door off to have a look at the control panel, and while I was working on it, noticed the following behaviour: When the door is pushed closed, but not latched, the light comes on on the panel. If I open the door it goes off again. Seems to be something to do with the latch sending (or not) a signal to the panel. I tried reconnecting the cable that runs to the latch but it hasn’t made any difference.

Any ideas what it might be and if it’s a case of replacing something?

broken wire at the bottom of the door or faulty door switch,
plug out if checking.

Cheers for that. If it is the switch, is there somewhere I can buy a replacement?
