ParticipantHi All
My Whirlpool ADG 7550 will not close. 🙁 When I push it shut it starts to work but then springs open. The little grey tab (top centre of casing) is out. Should it be?
Any advice welcome.

hello, I don’t think I’m, going to have the answer for you but I can let you know that at the top of my whirlpool DW I have a grey tab that sticks out for the latch to latch to.
I am in the process of dismantling mine to sell the working parts as I have a problem with getting hot water so I can take a look at how it works to see if I can help you at all. I’ll have to get home to look, I’ll see if I can do this tonight.
Can I make sure I understand what you are describing.
You close the door fully and it closes fine, the cycle then seems to start but the door pops open thus causing the cycle to stop, is this correct?
cheers

Hi ,
Thanks Gareth – yes thats what is happening – the door doesn’t seem to be closing with a water tight fit. if I hold the door closed the cycle works fine. As soon as I take off the pressure the door pops open and the cycle stops. I’ve looked for any obstacles and i cant see any so I pressume it is something to do with the lock on the inside of the door OR the seal at the bottom of the door. 😕
Look forward to your reply. Thanks again.

make sure the top basket is straight. there is a height adjustment on these, if you have it set high on one side and low on the other the basket does not align with the water feed correctly causing pressure on the door. seen this a couple of times now.

bzz67s suggestion is good, also check the position of the door when open. It should only open through 90 degrees – if it is drooping towards the floor, the hinges are bent and will need replacing, as they are effectively springing the door forward in the the closed position.
That’s a really, really nasty job……….
