ParticipantHi, new to this forum so sorry if this has been covered before.
My 4 year old whirlpool ADG7540 has a fault,
As soon as I try to start it on any program it runs for about 20 seconds then starts bleeping although there is a sound of a motor running it stops working and when I open the door it has gone to the rince cycle and the light next to the ‘i’ button on the right side flashes 6 times then a pause then 6 times over and over.
Any help would be gratefully recieved, as an aircraft engineer I have reasonably good diy skills so hopefully this would be something I could fix myself.
Thanks

f6 (6 x flashes) is ‘water tap closed’. Make sure you water inlet hose isnt kinked and water is turned on. If these are ok there are also a few other things it could be. water pressure, flowmetre failure, inlet valve.

Hi Jackster,
I have checked the water supply and its ok, hose not kinked, disconected the pipe to the back of the machine then turned the water back on and a good supply, the gauze inlet filter is clear.
Am I right in thinking that the flow valve/meter are accesed by tipping the macine on its side and removing the bottom cover, do I need to drain the water from the sump or is it ok just to have the door closed..?

I decided not to risk it and have drained the sump and salt water part with a large syringe, removed the bottom cover and took out the large black sensor and the small white sensor from the sump and cleaned them although they didnt look too gunged up and refitted them.
Put it all back together and started it free standing I can hear water going in but then it stops, starts bleeping goes back to rinse and drains but now the light is flashing 7 times then a pause…? It was definatly flashing 6 times before..?February 15, 2008 at 9:11 pm #243299Penguin45

6 + 7 are both associated with the flow meter in the fill matrix under the left hand panel. Often poor connections on the little pcb, although the flow meter itself can be faulty.
Power off before going in.

Thanks,
When you say the left hand panel where abouts is that ?. is the flow meter the small unit just inside the casing after the water hose conection, I thought that was just an on/off solinoid.February 15, 2008 at 10:00 pm #243301Penguin45

Er, the side of the machine, on the left, If you remove it, you’ll find the fill matrix.

Ok thanks, sorry to ask where it was but didnt notice any access panels there when I had it all apart earlier, I have another look tomorrow, hopefully it will just be a bad conection.

It isn’t an access panel – it’s the entire left hand side………..

Well I’ve fixed it,
I took the left hand side panel and the only electrical conection was on the large white plastic thing at the bottom, I take it this is the flow meter in the fill matrix, took the conecter off and carefully bent out the block conecter contacts though they didnt appear to be loose. put it all back together and hey presto it working fine..
Only consern is if it wasnt a bad conection and maybe a dead spot on the flow meter which I have got over by moving it slightly when unpluging it.. are these available to buy or would I have to get the whole matrix..?
Time will tell though.
Thank you very much to Jackster and Penguin45 for your help..
How did we ever manage without dishwashers..

9/10 are oxidised contacts. The 10th one is the flow meter and it is the the whole big plastic thing. Not too bad if required, about £60 for the lot last time I needed one.

Just had to register to say thanks to Penguin45.
I was getting the 7 flashes so i took the left side off and cleaned the contacts and my dishwasher now works fine.
Thanks!
