Whirlpool ADG7540 WOnt run, and flashes start light 8 times

Hi, I have a Whirlpool ADG7540 integrated dishwasher that is about 3 years old and in regular use. Yesterday it suddenly stopped working. When I open the door the start light flashes 8 times, pauses and flashes 8 times and keeps repeating this cycle. None of the buttons respond to input, and when the door is closed it repeatedly beeps.

Ive cleaned the filters etc, and power cycled the device to no avail. Ive called Whirlpool and they refuse to tell me what the 8 light error code means.

There is also standing water in the salt receptical and beneith the filter houseing, and its ponging a bit. Does this indicate a blockage on the waste pipe, or something more serious ?

Any help and advice greatfully recieved.

Clean the filters for starters.
Then press and hold the start button till the light goes out.
Select your program. Press start again.
If the error comes back you’re going to have to get an engineer in to fully diagnose and rectify the fault.
