    Hi there,

Our dishwasher has been flashing 4 lights, and draining but not refilling or washing anything. I have followed instructions from the forum and put hot water in and scrubed the little black filter thing, checked everything else is clean too, and it did start to work, but wouldn’t finish a cycle, would get most the way through then start the 4 flashes again. Now it has changed and has started not even properly starting cycles and flashing 2 lights instead! Can anyone help me, I have trawled the forum, but nothing I have spotted seems to help!
    Thanks

Model number not recognised – is this a European-spec machine?

Whirlpool dishwashers indicate faults by a pattern of flashes from the start lamp – ie, 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat; rather than the number of lights being flashed.

    Please explain more clearly.

    Hi There,

Yes it is a european spec, I am in France at the moment. The start light is flashing 4 times then pause and the beep is a constant one. I have already put hot water down the sump and cleaned the black filter several times with a tooth brush but to no avail. The machine either just keeps trying to empty then beeps and does the 4 flash pattern, or goes half way through a wash cycle then starts the 4 flash and beeps. Hope this is more clear. The water does actually pump out of the machine, so the pipe isn’t blocked either!

4 flashes is drain not detected in the time allowed. If you are certain that the grid is not gunged up, then the microswitch has probably failed. You’ll need one of THESE. That is the manufacturers part number, so you may be able to source one locally. It’s a twist fit from underneath.

2 flashes is the overflow problem. If the level switch is not working, it may have overfilled and leaked into the tray under the machine.

Power off before removing any panel,

    Regards,
