Whirlpool ADG957/heating element?

Integral Whirlpool adg957
Serial number 8542 957 15410

The dishwasher works ok if using PRE Rinse only.

Once i select any other programme it blows a fuse after a couple of minutes/
Does this signify the heating element is on the way out or could it be another fault?

If it is the element can this be replaced with the dishwasher in situ
Either way in situ or out can this be done by a very experienced DIYer.
If so any help or advice appreciated on doing this job.

Consider that there are two simultaneous actions occuring when the heater cuts in. There is the heater itself, and the dispenser usually fires as well. Faulty solenoid could also blow the fuse.

Dispenser needs to be accessed from inside the door. Heater needs to be accessed from underneath, so yes, it’ll have to come out.

Test meter to be sure of the diagnosis, power off at all times.

Heater most likely, the only way to test is to disconnect it and use a meter on it. It should have an earthing resistance of at least 1Mohm (2 better) using a 500v test meter (insulation tester)

If you need a new heater you could have a look in Shop@…..

Thanks for the speedy and helpfull replies.
I shall get the machine out and test the heater.

I now have a follow up question if thats ok.
I know i’m going to have to get the machine on its side to access the element. how the hell do i get my wooden kitchen door off the front?

two of the four side door screws each side (IIRC numbers 2 and 4 counting from the bottom of the door)
The door should then drop down and off (be careful – it might be heavy 😉 )

I’m sorry to labour this point.
but when i open the door fully the only screws i can see are five phillips screws on each side and they appear to be holding the inner stainless steel panel , the panel with the powder and rinse agent compartment in.
Are they the ones?

Yup, slacken nos 2 + 4 by two turns, the door should slip down and off.
