ParticipantHi all, I wonder if someone is able to advise me?
I have an ADG957 which isn’t operating correctly. I have checked the spray arms, and cleaned the filter etc. I’m usually quite diligent in maintaining the machine (use salt etc).
When the machine finishes its cycle, it isn’t hot (just a bit warm). The tablet is usually still present as well, half dissolved. So the crockery doesnt dry either, and there is food marks still present.
I don’t have any error codes as far as I know.
I’m wondering whether I need a new element, as the temperature is very definitely down? Or perhaps a thermostat?
Is there anything I can do to help diagnose the problem? Whirlpool have quoted £99.00 for a visit, plus any parts req’d. I’m loath to invest this if it’s something that a) isn’t economical to repair, or b) I can achieve myself. I’m happy to take it apart etc.
Thanks in advance.

The giveaway to this fault is the half dissolved tablet which indicates it’s running with insufficient water.
Take out the filters in the sump and have a look at the 3 o’clock position…you’ll see a grid which is prolly gunked up. Give a good clean with hot water and something like a toothbrush (don’t poke anything sharp through, there is a rubber diaphragm behind) then let us know how you get on?

Thanks Clive, I’ll do that tonight when I get home, and let you know how it goes…

Hi, I’ve tried the suggestion above, unfortunately to no avail. I located the black grid in the 3 o’clock position, but it was clean. Spotless, in fact 😀
I ran the machine on another cycle. The tablet dissolved this time, but as previously it seems to be only getting luke warm. When it’s finished, the inside of the unit remains covered in condensation, and the plates are only warm (Usually they are almost too hot to touch, and all the condensation disappears due to the heat).
We live in a hard water area, and I wonder if the element is furred up? would that be worth checking, and if so is it fairly accessible?
Thanks again

Next port of call is likely to be the NTC…this is the temperature probe and is well known for giving all sorts of problems. A heater fault is unlikely if it’s producing any heat at all.
Do a search on ‘NTC AND whirlpool’ in the Dishwasher H&S forum…there’s oodles to read 😉
