Hello, hope someone can help. The door on my d/w is making the most awful grating noise on the right hand side when you open it and feels quite stiff when you reach almost 2/3 of the way open. Service No. is 8542 966 15510 33 0043 15825. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Regards Christine. 😀

THIS will have disintegrated. Remove side panel (and plug) for access. Be warned that the spring is very powerful.

Hello Penguin,
thanks for the quick response. When you say “this will have disintegrated” what will exactly? Is it a straight forward job to do and will we be able to get the spares which I am guessing we will need at a reasonable price.

Regards Christine.The part illustrated is the brake block, and is a snap fit into the metal upright under the side panel. It is supposed to guide a metal strap from the door hinge round to the big spring. The tension of the spring is enough to crush the block after a few years…….. The spring is very powerful, so be careful.
