Participant😕 Hello,
After some unusual cleaning (My better half decided it would be a good idea to clear out the last bits of wax from a candle holder using the dishwasher) the start light started flashing. I cleaned the gunge from the main filter and tried again but the start light is still FLASHING 11 TIMES. I found another post saying that the code was a problem with the OPTICAL WATER SENSOR but gave no further info.
Can you please tell me what is an optical water sensor is.
Where would I find it, is it possible to remove it myself for cleaning (I have previously done simple DIY stuff like washing machine pumps and belts, central heating circuit boards, etc).Cheers

Hi
You may have optical or standard.
If you remove the filters and look at the recess in sump, at approx 3 o’clock position you will either see a weird looking round clear protrusion (optical water indicator) or a round honeycombed grill unit (standard water indicator)
The optical can be cleaned easily with a cloth. The standard indicator has to be cleaned with care, preferrably with a toothbrush; being careful not to be too rough as to puncture membrane behind the honeycomb grill.Greg

:rolls: Hi Greg,
Many thanks for your quick and very helpful response.
I put some hot water in the sump and scrubbed it best I could with a toothbrush. The good news is the light no longer flasher 11 times, the bad news is it now flashes 4.
Should I just try try cleaning it again (may try bending the toothbrush as it was difficult to get in) or is there some other things I need to try.
Cheers

Depending on how hard you “scrubbed” you may have damaged the membrane of the water indicator ( I did say be careful). It may be that the wax has solidified and jammed the WI 😕
4 is a no drain fault.
Try a reset holding “start” button down for approx 3 secs and see if fault clears.
