ParticipantHello everybody here comes an big begging from Sweden!
I bot a problem with my Whirlpool ADP 5967, after a transportdamage i had to replace the salttank cause it was leaking and the machine wouldn`t work. After the tank was replaced i got a errorcode after 15 to 20 minutes F4 and cant get any information about what is wrong.
The washer dont empty the machine from water correctly so there is still water in the bottom of it, everything under/in the area that the pump and electricityparts are is dry and nothing seems to be broken or leaking there,
the washer had been “resting” for about one year with water in the old tanks and pump if that could lead to anything.
would be grateful if someone could give me a clues to get the machine working.April 12, 2006 at 8:45 pm #172967Penguin45

F4 is no drop in water level detected in the time allowed by the computer board.
I can’t find your specific machine as it is a european model, but I would imagine that it will follow the usual “ADP” construction. Therefore, the machine will have two pumps – the large circulation pump at the back and a small drain pump at the front. Follow the grey drain hose back under the machine and it will take you to the drain pump. This will be either blocked or more likely stuck due to the lack of use. Power off, remove and strip pump and you will probably be able to sort it.

Thank´s for the help i will try this and see if it works.
The machine is made in Germany and got a servicenr 8542 967 61760
and the model is ADP 5967/1
The description you gave about the parts/pump seems to be the same so like i wrote i will try this.
Many thanks for your help “over there”April 20, 2006 at 6:09 pm #172969Swede

Me again.
Ive tried that with the little white frontpump that is connected with the drainhose and the machine did empty it after that so maybe the pumpwheel was stucked.
But after the maindish and the first drain/emptying there´s a new errorcode F8 and the machine is stopped again.
Could it be the 6 sense that goes in?? just kidding!
Ive spent 60 Euro to purchase the washer and 95 euro on the salttank so i think i could spend some more money to have it fixed before it goes to expensive for me.
If that is any “electrical” faults i would know what i should ask the service for and the costs for that, most of the technical problems is no worries for me except computerelectrical fauls.
Many thank´s so far, this is a wonderful forum to read in so keep up the good work guys!!April 20, 2006 at 11:07 pm #172970EFS

Hi Swede
Don’t want to state the obvious but you said transport damage in your first post.
If you have transported your appliance and it now doesn’t work you should check that it drains freely.
Look at the drain outlet that you have connected your appliance to and make sure that it actually has a hole in it.
You wouldn’t believe how many calls I get to new appliances that don’t work because the drain connection has not been unblockedGood luck

Hi Steve.
The DW was sold to another customer and he rejected it on cause of the transportdamage, so i bought it very cheap as the secondcustomer (second hand).
When i got the machine at my home and checked it out i discover that the the salttank was leaking, there´s been a directhit by the transportcomp there, so i bought a new one and replaced it.
The DW is not leaking anymore and i think i solved the problem with errocode F4, the machine did not drain as it should but it does now.
but after the maindish the machine drain as it shuold and i got F8 as errorcode, the drainpump is not stuck and the little “showelwheel” in the pump runs slightely well and it is a cascade of water out of the drainhose.
But the problem is that there is no where where i can find a list of what the errorcodes mean so you guys are the best “shot” so far, next step would be a servicecompany in Gothenburg that will take about 160 Euro/hour and the cost for any parts to solve my problem.
The only thing i did´nt check was that it was a hole in the salttank there i did connect the 2 hoses, so i will do that during the weekend now but i dont think that that should cause any errors, OR?
What is the function of the tank? It look´s like a filter to me that the water only runs trough. Many thank´s for your quick respons and useful help, like i said before keep the good work up guys!

Hi Swede
Fault code F8 is water level failure and is often due to the water in the appliance draining out due to syphoning caused by the drain hose end being lower than the water level in the machine.
If F8 is being caused by component failure then a visit by a suitably qualified engineer would be your next move.Steve

HELLO Guys Im back!
I dont know to who of you i´ll gonna give the largest bouquet of roses but ill give it to all of you “over there” for the splendid help you gave me.
The Whirlpool ADP 5967 is now washing our dirty plates and all the other kitchenstuff we have and it does it perfect.
The last thing i checked waas the level on the drainhose and it was way under what it should be, so after a “level upp” aprox 50 cm the machine works better then my wife will with the dish.
So once again THANK YOU FOR ALL HELP!!!
Greetings from Gothenburg / Håqan -
