    Salt light showing and dishwasher stopped working. we live in a soft water area. cleaned filter from underneath. can see inside a “transparent” plastic container a brown coloured substance. Can anybody help?

    Define “stopped working” – you haven’t given us anything to go on.

    Do not touch the container – that’s the softener regeneration unit,
