Hi !

My 8yr old dishwasher has developed a fault – when the machine starts it goes into the drain cycle, the drain pump starts and pumps a small amount of water to the drain then immediately cuts out and the power light goes out. The power light comes back on again and then the pump restarts again and it continues with this stop/start until the sump is empty and then carries on with the rest of the cycle as normal until it is time to empty the sump again.
I have use umpteen cleaning cycles with appropiate dishwasher cleaners and fill it up with washing soda solution for a couple of days to clean it even better.
Any idea as to what is causing the pump to stop/start ?

theres a blockage somewhere as the pump is trying to hard that why it stops and starts i think.
