ParticipantI have the above product and it seems to have a problem. I think this may have been caused because I messed up the waste plumbing and my washing machine emptied in to the dishwasher. This is fixed now though.
The problem is that now the start light is flashing and when i turn teh program selector knob only the light for ‘sixth sense normal’ will light up. When I depress the start button for two secs the machine will drain successfully and whir for about a min but it won’t run a cycle and still no other program light swill light up., The start button coninues to flash.
Do I need to reset the machine somehow or is there anyway of finding out what is wrong?? I have tried switching off power overnight but to no avail
Please help me!!!!
Thanks,John

It may have flooded the base and activated the flood protection switch.
If you pull the machine forward the tip it slightly see if any water runs out, if it does, try and let it all run out and then leave to dry for a couple of days.
Let us know how you get on.
Dave.

Absolutely brilliant guys – i tipped the machine forward and let some water out. Lo and behold the next time I started it it drained and whirred and then was good to go!
Can’t thank you enough for your help – will tell everyone about this site.
Best regards,
John

Cool, must be exactly my problem … however I have a built in dishwasher (whirlpool adg7566), so tipping it over isn’t as simple. Is there an other way to dry the inside?

ok, let me give the whole problem:
Yesterday the sink flooded for some reason. After that, the dishwasher (whirlpool adg7566) starts, pumps for a few seconds, then stops and flashes its start button twice, repeatedly. It’s a built-in machine, so tipping it over would be quite a job I’m afraid.I hope there a little plug I can pull somewhere, cause fungi are taking over control…

There’s no easy way of draining a flooded base really, which is what it sounds like has happened.
You can get at it by removing the decor door and the plinth, then the lower panel of the dishwasher then mopping it up with a towel.
Please make sure it’s disconnected from the power 1st though.

To add to Dave’s post, once you’ve got the machine drained and working again have a look at the drain hose and reroute it so that it lifts up as high as the sink overflow. This will go a long way to preventing a repeat of the backflow into the dishwasher.

Hey Dave & DP,
You guys sure rock! I removed the plint, screwed the feet in to put the dishwasher a bit lower then pulled it out all the way. I couldn’t remove its panels, but tilting it forward was enough to let the water out. It’s sending those fungi back to where they belong now!!
Brilliant tip to reroute the drain!

OK the same thing has happened to my dishwasher. I have pulled the hase off af the elbow where it does into the sink drain and i could not blow any air back through it. So next i took the filter out on scooped and them sponged the water up that was left in the bottom. I could then blow air through the hose. The light is still flashing so i guess that i just have to wait now. Does this sound ok or is there more water somewhere else.

Is it the same model? Did you tip it slightly to drain the base? How many flashes from the start button? (it will flash a number of times, pause, then repeat).

Wanted to say thanks to you all. We’ve just had this problem and I’ve justified my internet connection to the wife as I found the solution to our problem here!
Our dishwasher is built in so had to take off the lower cover and mop away at the tray underneath with a few tea towels. The metal tray is flexible enough to allow this. After we checked and it works! The I looked at the drain outside and found it had blocked up a bit hence the overflow as the washing machine empties into it as well. We’re leaving it overnight just to make sure.

This was really useful and has enabled me to locate the problem. However the flooding was due to a leak in the small rubber hose associated with the pump. Is it possible to replace the hose or do I need a new pump?

If it’s the hose that looks like it won’t come off then yes, it’s a whole motor as supplied by Whirlpool at about £100 🙁
There are other ways of making a hose fit though 😉
Power of please when repairing :zap:

Thanks you confirmed what I feared, what repair method would you suggest, I think theres a small hole in the hose.
