ParticipantWhirlpool ADP644BR dishwasher. 8511 644 15829. Serial no. 38 0650 016404.
Fault:- inlet water pulsing and leaking from air chamber side vent while fill. Quite a bit of water actually…
I found the air chamber venturi was scaled up (as Bosch d/w do) so cleared with descaler and refitted. Same fault.
Fitted new air chamber – same fault. New valve – yup, same fault. Turned the pressure up and down – no difference.
Only thing left in line is the salt / softener monobloc unit; anyone ever had one of these fail or scale up? Customer doesn’t use salt and it’s a hard water area here. I’ve only ever changed a monobloc once in 29 years – and that was because the machine was dropped and it cracked. Never had a faulty one. Could this be the first??
Any help please!!Thanks,
Steve.

From what you are describing you are sayiny as the unit starts to fill the valve turns on and off in short bursts causing the leak due to lack of constant flow
if i have got it right my next step would be to investigate the programmer. From the pictures i would say it has a series capacitor power supply and these fail over time and cause this sort of fault.

Strangely, that one was still going fine a month or two ago when I had to go back and do the door wiring on it.
Have also since had this cause faults on Indy DW Bit whatever it is board.

Thanks for that – does the capacitor top “dome” like they do on the Hotpoint boards? Is the location of the capacitor really obvious?
Cheers,
Steve.

No, it’s a long rectangular plastic thing about 30mm x 10mm x 20mm height. Yellow, blue or grey probably. No sign of damage but will be much less uF than printed on the side (1 or 1.5) even when measured in circuit.

Thanks Mike – nice to know exactly what it looks like!! These are commonly fitted on 100bit Indesit boards IIRC.
Cheers!
