We’ve got a Whirlpool ADP731 which we inherited with our house. It’s been great for the past year until a couple of days ago when it stopped heating the water. It’s also got noisier, making a thumping sound and stops on the heat part of the cycle.

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks

Thanks for creating a new topic Chris.

Any ideas yet? Or is it destined for the big dishwasher heaven in the sky?

I *think* from memory that these has a re-set safety thermostat on top of the heater tube – it may have clicked out. They were also prone to the wiring burning out on the heater circuit.

The thumping noise may point to a circulation problem – poor circulation will cause the heater safety to trip out. I would suggest that you set the machine off on the rinse programme. After circulation starts, pop the door open and you will should spot the rotors stopping with water spraying out of them. Worn pivot bushes and blocked rotors (especially the tips) can cause all sorts of problems.

A few things to think about – stay safe if you intend to try and solve this yourself – plug out before opening up.

You are a diamond!! Never let anyone tell you otherwise lol.

Thank you so much – I now have a fully working dishwasher which is a vital bit of kit when you’ve got 5 kids.
