ParticipantHi
the fault is that it will do the quick wash (40c) programme ok, the other two (50c,65c) it fails after apporx 1 hr with f4 which is apparently ‘F4. Draining failure. Drain pump, control board OWI or water indicator defect.’
There isnt any water left in it at the point of failure, plenty of heat in there too. so any ideas ? and what does OWI represent?regards

OWI refers to the WI (water indicator) no idea what the O means 😕
The water indicator is the diaghram switch in the sump by the looks of it.

Some machines are fitted with an Optical Water Indicator (Turbitity sensor). (Seem to remember this from Whirlpool Training days).
If memory serves me right it’s in the sump somewhere
As the fault is temperature related the NTC could be causing the problem. (The error codes aren’t always correct).

The optical sensor lens gets dirty, sometimes just a clean is all it needs.
Right hand side of the sump about 75mm in diameter, its black if I remember correctly.

In the distant past, when I worked for the now defunct Whirlpool agent, I had a few machines giving f4, of the ones I remember, two were syphoning, one had a flooded base and another was cured by rewriting the software to the module.
