I have an F8 fault code on a Whirlpool ADP 8940 dishwasher. I have no idea what it means! Anyone have a clue?

Water level control not working properly. Usually caused by excessively choked filters – clean everything that you can remove from base of machine. May be level switch itself – look in sump moulding – you’ll see a black grid; that’s the fella. Using hot water and an old toothbrush, scrub it clean. It may actually need removing if seriously clagged up – it’s a twist fit from underneath (power off) – and boiling water put through it.

F8 is a very common fault for over foaming. has the pipe for the top spray arm come out? if so, you will need a new sieve cover. are you double dosing rinse aid? i.e. using 5 in 1 tablets and rinse aid. if so, stop using rinse aid. also is F8 is for syphoning so make sure drain hose is high enough and not pushed all the way into a down pipe for draining. it can also happen if a pot turns over. can also be motor gushing. it is the hardest fault on a whirlpool d/w. good luck. thats everything i’ve done to clear the fault…. never a control board.

Thanks to you both. Filters cleaned and the fault appears to have ‘subsided’ – but I will check the other items you mentioned too. Very much obliged!
