WILL ONLY DO A RINSE FOR 3MINS, THEN DRAIN PUMP STARTS AND START BUTTON LIGHT FLASHES. AFTER THAT,EVERYTIME YOU TRY A WASH, ONLY THE DRAIN PUMP OPERATES EVEN AFTER IT ACCEPTS ANOTHER WASH. ONCE THE PUMP TIMES OUT,THE START LIGHT FLASHES AGAIN. CUSTOMER REPLACED MAIN MODULE HIMSELF(COST HIM £130 SO HE WONT GIVE UP NOW!).
CHECKED INLET SOLENOID: 2K RANGE: 3.6
CHECKED HEATING ELEMENT: 2K RANGE : 28.2 .NO EARTH LEAKAGETHE ONLY THING I DIDNT GET A READING FROM WAS A PROBE IN THE BASIN (CALLED A FEELER NTC, WHAT IS THIS?) WAS IT OUT OF RANGE AS MY METER DOES NOT HAVE A 200K SETTING?

Count the number of flashes when the fault occurs. This is the error code and you can find the list on this site.
My money is on F4 which is drainage failure detection.
Take the diaphragm switch out and clean it.that usually does the trick.
Good luck

Have to agree, my money is F4 too.
If cleaning the pressure switch doesn’t work check the drain hose is high enough to prevent the water draining out and if the hose is into a stand pipe make sure it’s not too far in and syphoning.Brian

my customer has the same fault with the same model but it doesn’t flash a error code at all just a continued flash from the start led. my knowledge is limited with whirlpool dishwasher, any ideas?David

Constant flashing is ntc error – see P1 of the Known Error Codes thread for full list.

Thanks for the info Penguin, i did check the error page but couldn’t find the Constance flash error. would the ntc error cause only the drain pump to work? i would have thought that any ntc error would be picked up when it reached that part in the cycle?.
Also what i forgot to mention was when the program dial in off and you then turn it to the first position it pumps out as it should, however if you turn it to the first position slowly then half way the water valve kicks into life and the led’s on the fascia flicker all the time.David

NTC failure is indicated immediately upon start up – programme aborts, drain pump runs for approximately two minutes.
Don’t know about the flickering – dodgy selector board perhaps?

Thanks Penguin, i checked the connections on the selector board as i suspected the origin of the flickering was from there and all seemed ok. To be honest i thought the main fault was a faulty pcb as i didn’t know about the ntc being check at the beginning, you learn something new every day 🙂
