I got back from a few days away to find my AFG 7080 with the alarm beeping and the temperature up to 1 degree. I emptied it, turned it off and let it thaw out completely. The following day I turned it on and it started to cool immediately, got down to -18 and seemed to be ok, stayed at -18 all day. This morning alarm is sounding again and temperature back to 1 degree! Anyone got any ideas? I have already had the clicking relay problem which I managed to sort thanks to this forum so I am hoping this will be second time lucky as well.

I have tried switching the freezer on a few times. It always gets down to -18 but then after a while, length of time varies, the temperature rises and the alarm goes off. I have pulled the freezer out and thoroughly cleaned it, no difference. I would assume this is an issue with either a sensor or a board, anyone got any ideas please!?

I have decided to take the control panel to bits as I can’t see what else could be causing this problem. I’m not an electrician so I am not sure what the component is (transformer?) but the large rectangular component was very hot and has discoloured the pcb and the plastic below it, could that be the cause of my problem? If so what is the correct terminology for it so that I can try and order a new component. To tight to cough up for a complete panel which is the only other alternative I think.

Markings I can make out are MACOM (I think) Pri 230V 50/60hz sec 9V 15Va

    also 1012M109

    and 17011020

any help would really be appreciated.
