whirlpool american f/f

    hi guys need some help with my f/f.the fridge side has started freezing food from the top shelf to the middle,there is a fan in the top left hand corner which is fairly noisey any suggestions would be appreciated. 8)

    depending on the model it might be the air diffuser which is a motorised baffle situated top right of freezer & top left of fridge.it might be stuck in the open position.good luck.Mack

    cheers mac,so this motorised baffle is the noisy fan on the top left hand side of the fridge?anybody know the part number? 8)

    just ordered one off ebay £60.86 all inc lets hope that solves my problem 8)

    Too late now but did you check if the air diffuser was working before ordering?
    Easy test is get a small mirror and look into the air diffuser then press vacation button and watch it close then press again and it should open.
    If faulty the usual cause is stripped gears in the motor unit because it is not strong enough to operate if iced up.
    I never throw the broken ones away as I can often patch up a broken unit with salvaged bits.
    Every little bit helps as the advert says 😉

    Ps. all the new ones are labelled “Made in China” so don’t expect an improvement in quality or a price reduction 😈

    cheers for your response steve 🙂 the diffuser is ticking noisily,i just hope its as simple as that,fingers crossed eh :rolls:

    new diffuser turned up today(fast delivery or what)now lets see if it works,by the way the old one was also made in china,if on the unfortunate off chance it still does not cure the fridge freezing up,what else should i be looking for? 8)
