Hi, I hope someone can help me.

I have a Whirlpool S20D RSS33 A/G that started bleeping a temperature warning with the flashing dashes on the control and now the top of the freezer is warm.

I have read the post regarding the PCB’s and to the naked eye they look ok (i.e. no scorch marks or bulging components). Also I don’t seem to have quite the same problem as there is no relay chattering noise.

With the help of this forum I did some further investigation. I allowed the freezer to defrost over night. The evaporator (I think that’s what it is called) seems to be working and the bottom of the freezer is cold. Also the auto defrost seems to be working as the heating element did defrost (I heard sizzling) after one switch on.

The problem seems to be with the fan above the evaporator at the back of the freezer. The plastic bracket holding this in place is broken and the fan was not working and the motor was warm to the touch.

My question really is, is it most likely to be the fan or something controlling the fan that is broken and is there a way to check? Also I have been unable to find a listing for the fan and the holding bracket. I guess thats a question for the parts forum if that turns out to be the problem.
