I was at a friends house over Christmas & his machine wouldn’t make ice. One of these American Style Fridge freezers that make ice in door, took a quick look at it but had no tools, are they just a solenoid putting water over a frozen plate & then a motor to break the ice? He did replace water filter recently & it has made ice since that. Looks like the ice builds up in bucket till it breaks infra red beam & then stops. There was no water getting to top of plate. Does it have a defrost timer? Just would like to have parts with me to do repair if possible when i go back.

    Hi,

    If this helps…

the prongs on the ice maker only let water in @ the 12 oclock position, after a few seconds the prongs advance into a 2 oclock position, where its waiting for a minus 9 stat to operate to restore power to the ice module timer motor. The prongs eject the ice which is assisted by a module heater to break the surface contact.

    So,

If no water in the ice tray……possible infra red transmitter or detector.
Also check the water feed supply tube has not frozen up…there is a mod but you really don’t want to be doing it.

There is also a double water valve behind the removeable rear panel. Check the usual for the valves.
