ParticipantCan anyone help me? I have a whirlpool american fridge freezer, black with ice and water facility. The fridge is not maintaining low temperature, have moved food away from vents, made sure door is closed properly and still the temp sits a nd 9 and above although I have set it at 2!! Can’t find the manual so wondering if when you set the temp on the panel is there a way to lock it? there is a lock symbol next to the light button, but don’t know what its for. Any help would be appreciated 😀

Hi, I am having the same problems with my fridge freezer, got this advice today….
Hoover out the bottom panel, remove it and hoover out the grid behind it. The dust can build up and affect the motor here.
I’ve only done it and don’t know if it will work…but its worth a try!!!!

Hi Have had the same problem, you can download the manual from whirlpool.com and possibly if your fridge is not cooling the top part of your freezer wont be either, turn the power off for 24hrs and defrost the freezer totally, behing the back plate inside the freezer compartment will also freeze a huge block of ice which will stop the fan from working which circulates the cold air into the fridge at the top, not a plesent job at this time of year coping without a fridge for a day, but it has just worked for me after an engineer came out and told me what he can do, it may save you a bill.
good luck 😀

We have a Whirlpool too model 20RI-D4. It has been great up until now. The freezer seems to be working fine ane we have had no problems with the control panel like other threads have spoken about.
Our fridge just doesn’t maintain it’s temperature, it’s roughly currently at 15C.
We know someone who deals with commercial fridge/freezers so asked him to come and have a look for us so we wouldn’t have to pay for someone to be called out. He did all the usual stuff checked the condenser and cleared so no fluff/dust there. Took the back of the fridge and freezer off inside to check the vents, all clear. We turned the whole appliance off over night and still no joy.
Please help us, not sure if we really need to go down the route of a new control panel (not that I know anything about fridge/freezers!) but would prefer to check first before we spend a small fortune.

Where will I find a post from July 2010, number S20RBBB20? The person appears to have had a similar problem to mine but when I search this reference the original question & solution doesn’t come back.

Thanks Don. Do you or one of the experts know where the airflow/motorised baffle is located on this Fridge Freezer and how you can check if it is functioning?

We followed advice to Hoover out the bottom of the fridge/freezer and it worked . It took about 12 hours for the temperature to drop to 5 degrees C but it did. Thanks for the advice, 😀
