I have had a Whirlpool S25B since 2003. Have replaced boards in 2004 and then in 2008 for reasons most of you have suffered. .

Now I have intermittent power failures. My thoughts are that fridge freezer is the cause of tripping RCD. Have changed all 9 caps using kit from this site. Seems to happen less frequently. Now happens about once every 24 hours. But always trips about 5 mins after first poower up following the overnight trip of RCD.

I have searched most posts, but cannot see any link. Hope someone can advise.

    Thanks

maybe your defrost element that comes on about once every 24 hours will also come on if it needs a defrost as you power machine back up.

Yes the most likly fault would be the defrost heater element.

    Thanks for the replies.

Engineer diagnosed last week as defrost heater. It was going to earth when it switched on and tripping RCD. I got round the problem while waiting for part by putting on timer and switching off the machine for 15 mins every 4 hours.

Will update if this has cured the problem.

One other piece of advice from engineer was to vacuum under bottom panel regularly. because this avoids a build up of fluff that prevents cooling of the electronics – leading to failure there.
