Whirlpool American style fridge freezer

Had a customer on the phone wanting a free estimate for the following fridge freezer:

Whirlpool S20BRSSA-J
8586 151 15011

When the fridge is plugged it there is no sound and after 10 mins the display alternates between ’18’ and ‘CF’.

Any ideas?

???? CF stands for ‘Compressor Fault’ or ‘Completely Fu**ed’ ????

Communication failure. Either the front board, rear board or both need replacing.
If the machine is pre week 33 2002 it needs both boards.
Pretty expensive.

What part of the schematic and circuit diagram are you looking for?
There isn’t any diagrams for the electronic boards only for the wiring.
I’ve got a training manual for these appliances somewhere.

I was thinking of asking the customer, if he didn’t want the fridge repairing I would buy it of him to repair myself.
I wouldn’t mind trying to find out which component goes faulty on the circuit boards.
So in answer to your question any diagrams showing the circuit boards connections.

Ok, have to admit to getting the date code wrong.
The new electronics were introduced in 2003, not 2002. Machines produced after week 30 2003 have the new electronics.
(Should have read the manual and not relied on my failing memory 😛 )
