Back in February a chunk of plastic was dispensed along with some ice from our ice maker, after some investigation we found that part of the ice bucket had broken off. Whirlpool sent an engineer out in march and we were told he would order a new ice bucket and come back and replace it. We are still waiting for this part and have taken it up with currys.

However we have looked at other manufacturers ice makers and found that whirlpool are the only ones that seem to make the paddles that push the ice out of the bucket in plastic has anyone else had problems with these breaking as the prospect of this happening again and someone getting injured is worrying

    Hi
    Its not a known issue.
The only reason I can think that the paddles broke is that air maybe getting into the ice bucket, say from a poor door seal or the ice dispenser flap not sealing fully and thus semi melting the ice cubes into a block of ice that the paddles would struggle with.
