hello there
i have recently been to inspect a whirlpool fridge freezer the customer was complaining that the top of the fridge seem to be getting to cold.
i havent had much dealin with this type of fridge on inspecting i found all the airways clear and all seals intact and fridge set to 5c.
infact if any one was to ask me id say it was working spot on but this is a very good customer who insists that its been freezin the food in the top for weeks, i thought it must be a sensor or a board fault would this be an expensive repair?

Your original post was in a Public Forum but now it has been moved to a Trade Forum now that you have been granted access, do you see 😉

As for fault, I would imagine that the air diffuser has become faulty or iced up thus staying open and overcooling the fridge section.

hello there that sounds like good advised greg thanks is this quite common then?
were will i find the diffuser?
and heres all my numbers off the appliance how can i tell if it was made before week 15/04 do i need the ntc?

Johnmac or R600a are better to advise tbh 😀

The diffuser is accessed from the fridge and freezer section 😕
Remove cover in fridge section (top left), then go into freezer section remove icemaker unit to give you room 😀 then locate diffuser port, removing air guide tube first, squeeze nibs retaining the diffuser unit and then remove from fridge section 😉

I am not really an expert on these machines. However I do remember a technical memo from Whirlpool. Whereby we were to inform customers that they should not store food items that contain liquid on the top shelf, yogurts, milk, juice etc. Eggs could also be a problem at times, it depends on what type of container they were in, apparently a cardboard box was better than polystyrene, but polystyrene is better than no container.
From what I remember of the memo, this was caused because the airflow from the freezer to the fridge came in at the top of the fridge at a very low temp therefore anything liquid in it’s direct path could be frozen. Solution educate the customer.
