ParticipantI have a Whirlpool APDW/2 integrated dishwasher that starts the drain pump which it runs till it times out and then the start LED flashes in a sequence of 4 flashes. The unit never starts to fill. The pump became very noisy before it eventually stopped working. I know that F4 is a drain failure.
I have had the drain pump out and the impellor is in tact and free to rotate. If I pour water in to the machine it is pumped out and when I powered up the pump whilst it was out the impellor turned. The only thing I noticed is that the coil sounds like it is arcing. I am pretty sure I have had this before on a previous identical unit I owned but I can’t remember if it exhibited the same problem.
I think it could be a faulty drain pump but before I fork out for a new one I thought I would ask for advice here.

Thanks Penguin45. That got it draining and filling again but now I have an F6 error.

Computer knows that the water valve is open, but does not detect rising water level. Water level switch may be jammed in the open position (check that the diaphragm is operating the switch when pressurised). Low water pressure may not be spinning the flow meter. Flow meter may not be signalling to computerboard.
Start with the level switch – most likley culprit.

Thanks once again Penguin. Where are the water level switch and flow meter located.

Water level switch is the switch on the back of the water level sensor – the black grid.
Flow meter is a water wheel device located in the water matrix on the left hand side of the machine.

Cheers penguin. I think the water level sensor is faulty as I have managed to get the machine to go further in to its cycle by prodding the diaphram during drain. I am going to replace this and see what happens.
Thanks for all you help.
