Hi guys,
I dont do alot with refrigeration but have looked at this fridge freezeer for a friend. As usual Im buried in it :). Anyways ill try to make it brief. Got there compressor not running but light on. Checked thermostat no problems there. Follow thermostat switch wire for the compressor to a overheat or thermistor which is buried in the insulation on top of fridge. Metred it and it was open circuit. Bypassed this and now have my switch wire for the compressor. Problem solved, of course not :). I now have a feed from the thermostat to the compressor terminal block but this seems to run through another thermistor which seems to measure ambient temp around the compressor. The thermistor was open circuit, it is marked 261n 21c. Im thinking this thermistor should be normally closed so I bypass that for test. Now before testing I metre the plug top and find that shorting the thermister near the compressor gives me a pretty much dead short, 5,6 ohms, no way Im plugging that sucker in. So my question to anyone that can help is, should the thermistor around the comp be normally open? Is it possible that both the thermistor in the fridge insulation and the one around the compressor went at exactly the same time? Can the one in the insulation be replaced and anyone have any part numbers for said heart breakers…….
Any help greatfully appreciated.
