I got this Whirlpool ARC7612 fridge freezer two and a half years ago second hand from someone who had only had it a couple of months. About five months ago it started complaining when I did my grocery shopping and filled it up. It would make quite a lot of rumbling noises and then the inside temp would raise. When I closed the fridge door it would make a weird buzzy/whirry rumbly sound, hard to describe. On one occasion the temperature went to 10c and the fridge made no sound at all. Thankfully it went back to normal again. This noise it made seemed to be coming from the back, near the top of the appliance, but I can’t be sure.

I filled the fridge on Saturday and it didn’t like it again, making the old noises. It seemed to have got better yesterday but then last night suddenly it started making a terrible loud noise, sounds like the old noise but much much louder. I had to close the kitchen window to stop it from bothering the downstairs neighbours. In the end I had to unplug the whole appliance late last night, as I couldn’t sleep for it. I’ve tried turning it back on and it immediately makes the same very loud buzzing again. When I turn it back off the sound seems to “wind down” and at the end of the sound it sounds like maybe a fan stopping.

The freezer part has been annoying too, as it over freezes and I get a sheet of ice on the back wall of it sometimes. I was blaming my son for leaving the door ajar, but I don’t actually think that was the case. All the things in the freezer recently have a coating of frost/ice on them.

Please can anyone help? I am on a very tight budget and need to know if this will be worth repairing. This is the sixth appliance to go in the past two and a half years, grrrr.
