I’ve had a Whirlpool ARG582 “under-counter” Fridge for a few years now. It’s never malfunctioned until recently. About 2 months ago I noticed water at the bottom – this was due to the drainage being blocked. I cleared it and no more problems. Yesterday I noticed that some of my veg on 2nd shelf down was frozen, yet the fridge didn’t seem too cold and other produce wasn’t frozen ! The temperature gauge is set on 2 (range 1 to 4 with 4 being coldest) and has never been any different. If it metters we’ve not had any power cuts lately.
This is all a bit of a mystery to me so any advice would be most welcome.

    Thanks

I have exactly the same model (5 year old) and the same problem. No problems previously, but suddenly temperate in fridge is very low. I have turned down the thermostat but doesn’t seem to have any effect. Is it worth turning off the fridge, letting it totally warm up and turning on again ? Any suggestions to diagnose the problem would be much appreciated. Many thanks. William

can you hear the compressor running all the time in the background ? also would help if you had a fridge thermometer to see what actual temp in fridge is. if temp is low and compressor running all the time then chances are its the thermostat smartin

Thanks for the input. I did check with a digital thermometer and temperature was about -1.0 C at top and -3.0 C at bottom. The compressor did seem to be running all the time. I turned down (ie warmer temp) the thermostat (from 3 to 2) and now I seem to have the opposite problem of temperature being too high (7.0 C top and 5.0 C bottom). The compressor does come on sometimes but doesn’t stay on. I have turned the thermostat back to 3 and am monitoring the temp. Seems a little odd as thermostats generally fail one way rather than work inconsistently. Is replacing a thermostat fairly easy – I presume that I will have to take the fridge totally out to get to everything. Many thanks. William
