    I have recently moved into a house with a Whirlpool ART721 USA Fridge which I think is at least 5 years old. Yesterday, the ice in the ice maker decided to melt, and freeze at the bottom of the freezer. It has stopped producing ice. Also, in both the fridge and freezer compartments, only the bottom 3rd is cold – the tops are not cool at all. There is a soft motor sound coming from the bottom of the fridge, but no other noises have been made. Does anyone have a diagnosis? Is this something I can fix? I would like to avoid the shocking £85 call-out charge if I can!

    It sounds like a refrigerant system fault and you will need a fridge engineer I’m afraid. Not a DIY one.
