    Folks,

Got a Whirlpool AW0 D5050 washing machine. Wife washed some bangles so I had to clean out the pump filter.

Since then the pump seems to pump out rather halfheartedly and the red light and ‘pump blocked’ regularly comes on, and the machine pauses. However, touching pause and the machine resumes pumping, until it decides to stop again. Will complete a full cycle if you keep pushing the pause button on everytime it decides to stop pumping.

I’ve had the pump out tube off and cleaned it but it was not blocked. Watched it pumping water out, a very slow trickle. The pump still has 4 vanes on it and it spins ok with the pump filter off. It’s also been descaled but this didn’t seem to do much. Any ideas? Thanks, Nick

5p in the pump outlet spigot is always a good one, blockage in the tub to pump hose is entirely possible. You may need to remove the hose completely as socks and stuff can sit on top of the ecoball at the tub end of the pipe.

    Power off first, please.

Very good Penguin, although it was actually a pair of skimpy pants, not mine, stuck at the top of the downpipe and two arms off a pair of glasses that my wife washed, d’oh.

Much fun putting the x?#*ing thing back together again……

Iv’e come across this a few times now, it was the waste pipe causing the issue.
Remove the pipe and throughly clean it out, I find gently knocking and bashing it will release any built up limescale and hopefully remove any blockage.
