So, the new element arrived in the post today. I’ve whacked it in and the machine is happily half way through a long wash cycle. I guess I’m prepared well in advance should my pressure switch fail in future now!

Very strange that the element should show a continuous circuit and then just after fail, though that must have been what was triggering the fault.

the pressure switch part of the protection circuit to stop the heater coming on with no water in the drum. If the heater does come on with no water it will blow the safety fuses in the heater

what do you mean by 3 very short runs ?

Hi Dave
It sounds as if it is starting normally, it makes a noise as if it it trying to fill with water, as if it was going to start its cycle, it try’s three times then clicks and a few seconds later the service light comes on.
If I have done the diagnostic’s test right, I pressed the reset button a few times, and it made a noise and looking at your previous post it showed F23

is there any where I can get a copy of the service manual for it ?

whirlppol service manuals dont amount to much so your not missing much

disconnect heater and check the resistance with a multimeter
