    Not sure what the problem is but my 2.5 year old Whirlpool AWG5122 washing machine now trips the house RCD when I try to use it. It’ll work on a spin or rinse setting but if you try to start a wash cycle on any temp setting it trips. That would seem to indicate it’s something to do with the heating… any ideas/advice would be very welcome. (At £85+ to call out an engineer for a WM that cost £200 I’d rather scrap it and buy something else…)

    Yes heating element going short to ground / outside case.
