    Hi,
    Just about to change the drain pump on a Whirlpool AWM 049 washing machine but replacement pump electrical connections are different. Original pump is connected via a block connector and both cables are coloured red.
    How do you determine correct polarity for replacement pump?

    Nope any of the two connectors to the pump mains connector

    I appreciate it the fact that it is an ac pump but surely the fact that it is also a magnetic pump would mean that polarity of the input connections will determine the direction of the pump rotation.
    Why bother labelling the connections L & N.

    You dont need to, its AC not DC, odd question 😕
